B. Cloud Library Sync (One-Way)

Version 5.6.0 bridged the gap between the classic "Export" workflow (for USB drives on CDJs) and the modern "Performance" mode (laptop DJing with controllers like the DDJ-1000 or DDJ-RZX). It was the last version to fully support all Pioneer DJ hardware made before 2020 without requiring a Creative or Professional subscription.

• Library conversion: Rekordbox 6 reads 5.x libraries seamlessly on first launch. It converts the database (takes 2-10 minutes) and leaves the old one untouched. You can roll back by reinstalling 5.6.0 and replacing the converted database with your backup.
• Performance: Version 6 is heavier. It uses ~2x more CPU and RAM due to Electron-based UI elements and background cloud processes.
• Features you gain: Streaming, cloud sync, smart playlists, better 4K UI, CDJ-3000 support, flexible beat grids, key shift in performance mode, and regular updates.
• Features you lose: Absolute offline simplicity, instant startup time (5.6.0 opens in 4 seconds; 6.0 takes 12+ seconds on the same hardware), and the “no subscription nag” experience.

⚠️ Warning: Do not update to 5.6.1 or 5.8.7 unless you need specific bug fixes. 5.6.0 is the purest build. Later 5.x versions added telemetry that slows performance.
