Released on May 10, 2022 , firmware version 3.74 is the latest and likely final system software update for the PlayStation Vita How to Update to 3
- If you have a used Vita and want a clean start on 3.74
The Bad
- No new features. No UI tweaks. No performance boost in games. This is a housekeeping patch for a console Sony abandoned in 2019.
- Breaks some homebrew (temporarily). If you have a hacked Vita (Enso/Henkaku), updating to 3.74 will wipe your custom firmware. However, the hacking scene updated within days to support 3.74. You can re-hack it easily, but it’s an annoyance.
- Pointless for physical-only users. If you play game carts and never go online, 3.74 offers zero benefit.
Version Spoofing: If you are already on a custom firmware (CFW) like 3.65, you do not need to update to 3.74. Instead, you can simply change your Version Spoofing setting to "3.74" in the Henkaku settings to maintain access to the PSN store and online features.
