Title: A blast from the past – works perfectly, but know what you’re buying
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
Since the game is "abandonware" in the digital sense, you generally have two legitimate paths:
Lower Resolution: If the game crashes on launch, some players have found success by manually setting the resolution to 800x600 in the configuration files first. CD Keys and LAN games VS GOG - VOGONS paraworld cd key
, the 2006 real-time strategy (RTS) gem that pitted Viking-like tribes against dinosaurs, remains a cult favorite for its unique Army Controller system. However, because the original developer, SEK, is long defunct, getting the game to run—and finding a valid ParaWorld CD key—requires a little bit of "prehistoric" tech knowledge.
Since ParaWorld was removed from major digital storefronts like Steam and GOG years ago due to licensing issues, you cannot simply click "Buy" on a modern platform. Your options are limited to the secondary market: Title: A blast from the past – works
- Insert DVD 1. Autoplay or run
Setup.exe. - Enter the CD Key exactly as printed. Hyphens matter. Capitalization usually does not.
- Install the Booster Pack expansion if you have it. (Adds the Dragonfly and Mantis units).
- Do NOT install the official patch (the official patch points to dead servers).
- Instead, download the Unofficial Community Patch 1.10 from the Paraworld Revival Discord.
- Apply the No-CD crack (included in the patch) to preserve your original DVD.
- Play.
2. The SafeDisc Apocalypse
Microsoft Windows 10 and Windows 11 have a built-in "feature" that is devastating for old games: they block driver installations for SafeDisc and SecuROM DRM. Microsoft did this for security reasons (these drivers created kernel-level vulnerabilities). Consequently, even if you have a valid Paraworld CD key, the original game disc will not install on a modern PC without community patches.
If you're having trouble getting the game to launch after entering your key, I can walk you through the fan-patch installation steps. Insert DVD 1
Developed by SEK and published by Sunflowers (Deep Silver), Paraworld offered a unique "alternate history" premise where a Victorian-era scientist discovered a portal to a prehistoric world. Instead of standard RTS factions, players commanded tribes riding saber-toothed tigers, armored dinosaurs, and massive mammoth siege units. Despite its cult following, the game was notoriously protected by SafeDisc DRM, requiring a unique Paraworld CD key to install and play.
