SPOILERS: Heart of Stone (2001) is a serial killer/thriller film. There is a ritualistic murder of a co-ed during the opening credits, then we see Angie Everhart preparing a birthday party for her daughter, who is about to start college. After the party, Everhart tries to seduce her own husband, who is frequently away on business. At this point in the film, about 5 minutes in, based on the man's character and the way they introduced him, I figured he must be the killer. |

From there, they do their level best to convince the audience that someone else is guilty. A younger man seduces Everhart, then tricks her into lying to give him an alibi for the time of a second ritual killing. He stalks her, we learn that he is a former mental patient, and eventually see him kill several people. Nearing the last five minutes of the film, Everhart's daughter has killed the young man, and I was still convinced that the husband was the serial killer. Sure enough, I was right. |

MicroStation SE (Second Edition) is a foundational, legacy version of Bentley Systems' premier CAD software, famously known for its stability in the late 1990s and its role as a precursor to the modern MicroStation V8 and CONNECT editions. It was designed for complex infrastructure, mapping, and engineering projects, often used in conjunction with MicroStation Development Language (MDL) for custom application development.
The killer feature of MicroStation SE—and the reason many firms refused to upgrade for years—was its handling of Reference Files. While AutoCAD required users to XREF and pray, SE allowed users to attach dozens of DGN files as references, clip them with complex shapes, and toggle their display state instantly, all without corrupting the master file. This made managing large infrastructure projects (roads overlaying bridges overlaying utilities) possible on desktop PCs for the first time.
Advanced Drafting Tools: SE refined essential tools like SmartLine, which combined line, arc, and vertex placement into a single fluid operation, a feature that remains a staple in modern Bentley software. Real-World Applications microstation se

MicroStation SE was not just software; it was a philosophy. It prioritized keyboard efficiency, file integrity, and cross-discipline referencing at a time when the internet was still a novelty. For the engineers who used it, the muscle memory of PLACE LINE and the satisfying click of a level lock toggle are fond memories.

MicroStation SE introduced custom line styles that could incorporate text, symbols, or dashes. It also used Levels (layers) with 63 levels per file—later expanded—each with independent color, style, and weight settings.
