The Hitman: Sniper Challenge is a standalone promotional minigame serving as a prologue to Hitman: Absolution. The story follows Agent 47 as he takes a vantage point on a Chicago rooftop to execute a high-profile assassination. The Mission Story

Instead of a game, I got a desktop icon that did absolutely nothing—except turn my computer into a heat radiator. Within an hour, my browser was redirected to a search engine I’d never heard of, and pop-ups for "antivirus software" started fighting each other for screen space. I didn’t get to take out any targets; I just spent the rest of the weekend watching my dad format the hard drive while he lectured me on how "nothing that good is actually 10 megabytes." The moral?

Despite being a visually impressive title for its time, the game is relatively lightweight by modern standards. OS: Windows XP, Vista, or 7. Processor: Pentium 4 HT 530 or Athlon 64 3300+. RAM: 2 GB. Graphics: GeForce GT 220 or Radeon HD 7450.

| Error | Solution | | :--- | :--- | | Missing MSVCP100.dll | Install "Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable" (x86 version). | | Game opens then crashes | Disable Steam overlay (if you have Steam running in the background). | | Black screen but audio works | The game is trying to run at a resolution your monitor doesn't support. Go to Documents\My Games\Hitman Sniper Challenge and edit the config file to 1920x1080. | | X-Ray slow-mo is laggy | Turn off "Depth of Field" in the graphics settings. The game is poorly optimized for modern GPUs. |
