Drumbrute Mods
Arturia DrumBrute Mods: Expert Review The Arturia DrumBrute and its smaller sibling, the DrumBrute Impact, are widely praised for their stellar sequencers hands-on workflow
- Kick Drum Punch Mod: Replacing a resistor (R162) to increase low-end decay and punch.
- Individual Outputs: Tapping pre-VCA or post-VCA signals for each drum voice.
- Noise Reduction: Modifying the power supply filtering to reduce hiss on the main outs.
- Filter CV Input: Adding a jack to control the built-in filter cutoff with external CV.
⚠️ Important Warnings
- SMD components – DrumBrute uses many 0603/0402 parts. Don’t attempt if you’re not comfortable with tiny soldering.
- No schematics – Arturia doesn’t release full schematics. Use a multimeter and trace visually.
- Ground loops – Poor wiring for individual outs can cause hum. Use star grounding.
- Warranty – All mods void it.
Mod 5: Analog Distortion Bypass & Replace
Replace the digital distortion with an analog overdrive circuit (like a modified Tube Screamer or MXR Distortion+). drumbrute mods
Proper Equipment: Standard soldering irons are often insufficient; temperature-controlled stations and magnification tools are usually necessary. Risk Assessment Arturia DrumBrute Mods: Expert Review The Arturia DrumBrute
- Trace the signal path for each voice (Kick, Snare 1/2, Toms, Hat, Cymbal).
- Solder shielded cables to these traces.
- Route them to panel-mount jacks.
- Crucial: You must interrupt the signal going to the main mix bus when a jack is inserted (using switching jacks) to avoid double-signaling and phase issues.
Kick Pitch Sweep: Alter R121 (6k2) with a 4k7 resistor to reduce the pitch sweep range, allowing for more precise tuning at lower levels. Result: You can now process the Kick through
Kick 1 Decay: You can often extend the sub-frequency tail of the primary kick by adjusting the internal trimmer, giving it a more 808-style "boom."
