The A-29B Super Tucano is a derivative of the Embraer Tucano, a turboprop trainer aircraft that first flew in 1984. The A-29B was designed to meet the requirements of the Brazilian Air Force for a light attack aircraft that could be used for counter-insurgency, border patrol, and surveillance missions.
