Anno 1800 Lan Multiplayer [portable] -

Anno 1800 does not have a dedicated "Offline LAN" mode. To play together—even in the same room—all players must be online and connected to Ubisoft Connect. 🌐 Setup Requirements

  1. Prepare network – Ensure all PCs are on same subnet (e.g., 192.168.1.x). Disable any strict firewalls that block UDP ports 18000-18010 (used by Anno 1800).
  2. Log in – Every player launches Ubisoft Connect, logs in, and launches Anno 1800.
  3. Host creates game
    – Main menu → MultiplayerNew Game
    – Configure game rules (map type, victory conditions, etc.)
    – Set privacy to Private or Friends only
Important: Uncheck “Allow co-op players”? (Co-op mode adds complexity; for standard vs or team play, leave default.)
  4. Joining
    – Other players → MultiplayerBrowse Games → Find host’s session in list (may appear under “LAN” or “Friends”)
    – Alternatively, host invites via Ubisoft Connect overlay (Shift+F2).
  5. Start game – Once all players have selected their factions/colors, the host launches the session. The game will load and periodically synchronize.

You have added each other directly through the Ubisoft Connect App, as Steam invites can occasionally be unreliable. anno 1800 lan multiplayer

  1. All players must own a legitimate copy of Anno 1800 on PC (the platform most conducive to LAN parties; console versions do not support LAN at all).
  2. All players must be logged into Ubisoft Connect (formerly Uplay) with an active internet connection.
  3. One player hosts a “Private” or “Friends only” multiplayer game session via the in-game multiplayer menu.
  4. Other players on the same local network join via the in-game friends list or by searching for the private session. Traffic may route locally if the network supports it, but authentication and session brokering still go through Ubisoft servers.
  5. Once the session starts, gameplay data is exchanged primarily via the host’s connection. If players are on the same LAN, the host’s PC acts as the server, and data between clients may travel locally, but initial connection and DRM verification require an active internet link to Ubisoft.

Why does this matter? Because Anno 1800 is a deterministic game. In the late game with 50,000+ inhabitants, desyncs are common in online play. LAN multiplayer eliminates the variable of cross-country ping, resulting in a smoother Industrial Revolution. Anno 1800 does not have a dedicated "Offline LAN" mode

For purists, the requirement of Ubisoft Connect might sting. But for anyone who remembers the joy of yelling across a room of CRT monitors as steamships clash and supply chains crumble, Anno 1800 delivers that magic. Just make sure everyone’s DLC matches and the firewall is tamed.
